Magnetic
Resonance Imaging (MRI)
MRI is an
important part of the imaging services at Redlands Community
Hospital. Using a large magnet and radio waves, an MRI obtains
high-resolution images of any part of the body. This method is
commonly used to diagnose neurological diseases or the cause of back
or knee pain. An MRI can also identify torn ligaments and muscles,
damaged tendons or problems in other soft tissue. MRI sometimes uses
a "contrast agent" (dye) called gadolinium to enhance the
image.
