REDLANDS, Calif. – Angela Koenig’s combination of vivid color with a blend of eastern and western traditional painting styles and compositions will be on display at Redlands Community Hospital Foundation’s annual “Evening with the Artists” event on April 25. Koenig will be one of five artists featured and will be showing her recent works in a variety of mediums she calls, "Fifty Shades of Green".

As a versatile artist, Koenig uses different artistic mediums, including oil, Chinese Brush, watercolor, pastel, encaustics and monotype printmaking. Having traveled the world as a child in a Navy family and as a working adult, Koenig pulls inspirations from all of her surroundings. She has studied with globally renowned artists like Seigfreid Hahn, Howard Wexler, Rafael Maniago, and Ning Yeh.

“My art is inspired by everyday life,” she said. “There is beauty and blessings in everyday surroundings: their color, essence and light. The more your eye develops the more you see nature's beauty, which I love to try to capture in my pieces.”

Koenig earned her college degree with an emphasis in art. She went on to spend much of her life working in corporate business, learning the nature of people and expanding her interpretive skills as an artist. As a woman in the world of business, Koenig saw herself as a pioneer for women in an executive management role

Koenig joins local artists Aida Schneider, Martha Cowan, Seung Lee, and Ray Fedorchak at the annual “Evening with the Artists” event. Koenig’s artwork will be available for purchase at the Stan and Ellen Weisser Education Pavilion from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25. Proceeds will benefit the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation’s art fund. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served during the evening’s elegant event. Tickets are $20.

“I’m honored and excited to be part of the community that helps to heal the soul,” explains Koenig. “Hospitals are a very integral part in our community. They are a place of healing and I’m happy to be able to play a small part in the collective of doctors, nurses and staff that work together to heal everyone from patient to family member, from body to spirit. Art plays a role in that process and the pieces that are on the walls of the hospital aid in the healing environment.”

The Foundation’s art program began in 1978 and today, the hospital exhibits a collection of more than 750 works of original art and historic photographs in the Redlands Community Art collection.
