Local Plein Air And Oil Paint Artist To Be Featured At Redlands Community Hospital Foundation's "Evening With The Artists"

REDLANDS, Calif. – Lisa Mozzini-McDill’s plein air and oil paint works combine a playful adaptation of capturing time and moods beyond their surface meanings. Her pieces, along with those of four other artists, will be featured during this year’s annual “Evening with the Artists” event, hosted by the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation on Friday, April 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“What I think about when painting is emphasizing an exciting play of light and shadow, an interesting composition, and enhancing a scene that evokes a deeper meaning or emotion in me,” says McDill of her art. “It is my intent that this depth and emotion I feel will also be communicated and resonate with the viewer.”

Lisa and her family currently reside in Chino Hills. A graduate of San Diego State University with Honors, a Distinction in Art and a Bachelor of Art in Graphic Communications, McDill went on to work as a graphic artist, illustrator and portrait artist for over 10 years in the San Diego area. She then discovered oil painting in 2006, and has been steadily building her collection of large pieces and portraits ever since. McDill also teaches in her studio and at Parkhurst Galleries, Inc., where she demonstrates for various art groups and gives plein air workshops.

McDill says her inspirations come from her love of being outside, travelling through Europe, and seeing nature through her own eyes, as well as in her photos. She has taken workshops and lessons from artists such as Michael Obermeyer, Elizabeth Tolley, John Budicin, Ken Auster, and Joseph Todorovitch. She admires the work of John Singer Sargent, Anders Zorn, and Joaquin Sorolla.

Her paintings can be seen at The Lake House in Cedar Glen, Hillside Fine Art in Claremont, the Artisan Gallery in Mission Viejo, and at Parkhurst Galleries, Inc., San Pedro.

McDill joins local artists Bill Hudson, Charlie Ciali, Diana McLaughlin, and r. mike nichols at the annual “Evening with the Artists” event. McDill’s artwork will be available for purchase at the Stan and Ellen Weisser Education Pavilion from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24. Proceeds will benefit the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation’s art fund. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served during the evening’s elegant event. Tickets are $20.

The Foundation’s art program began in 1978 and today, the hospital exhibits a collection of more than 800 works of original art and historic photographs in the Redlands Community Hospital Art collection.
