How often do I come in for treatment?
Your treatments will be Monday - Friday except weekends and holidays.
How long is each radiation treatment?
Your daily allotted treatment time is 15 minutes. The actual radiation
time can be 2 minutes up to 25 minutes.
What will I feel during treatment?
Nothing. You'll have some side effects after a couple weeks. Those
will be explained to you at consultation and will be monitored daily by
Can I continue my normal activities?
Yes. If you are up to it, you can continue with your normal activities.
Can I be around people after/during my treatments?
Yes. You are not radioactive. You can be around family and friends without
anything to worry about.
What happens in Consultation?
You will meet with the radiation oncologist and discuss radiation treatment
options. All risks and benefits will be discussed and explained.
I have received an authorization to Redlands Community Hospital for radiation
in the mail. What do I do now?
Please notify your referring physician to let them know you received this.
They will then contact us with all your information and we will contact
you to schedule an appointment.
Why do I have to fill out all this paperwork?
Every office has their own questionnaire. In order to provide you with
the best of care we need these forms filled out. This will give our physicians
a better understanding of your current health and allow them to pursue
Will I begin radiation on my first visit?
No. There are a few steps that have to be taken before we can deliver your
first radiation treatment with precision. You'll have at least two
more visits before you have your first radiation treatment.
What happens at my Setup appointment?
On this day you'll be setup on the treatment table and x-rays will
be taken to verify positioning and to localize the treatment area. This
appointment will be long since we want to be precise with your treatments.

Why do I need permanent tattoos?
The radiation is delivered with millimeter precision. The tattoos help
the radiation therapist in the daily positioning of your radiation treatment.
Can I drive myself to my radiation treatments?
Yes. Unless you currently have a condition that keeps you from driving.
Will I lose my hair?
The only area affected is the area that is being treated. If your head
is being radiated then you will lose your hair.
Do I have to come alone during my radiation treatments?
You may bring family and friends with you but they will have to wait for
you in the waiting room. You are the only one allowed in the room during
treatment due to the ionizing radiation being delivered.
Will my radiation treatments be at the same time every day?
That is our goal. We will work with you and we will try and give you a
time that works well with your schedule. For the first week your treatment
time will vary according to our schedule until we place you in a permanent
