The Labor, Delivery & Recovery unit, located on the second floor of the Surgical and Maternity Building, provides comprehensive 24-hour perinatal services that meet the needs of high and low risk women and their infants. LDR consists of 2 cesarean section suites, a recovery room, a 3-bed triage area and 10 private rooms where the mother will labor, deliver and recover. The mother is supported and assisted by the father and/or other support persons in a spacious homelike environment. RCH supports the philosophy that childbearing is a natural process in which family participation enhances the experience and family outcome. Early skin-to-skin bonding and breast feeding is encouraged soon after delivery.
