Financial Assistance Policy (FAP)

(Plain Language Summary)

We Can Help.

At Redlands Community Hospital (RCH) we believe that no one should delay seeking emergency medical care due to the lack of health insurance or an ability to pay for their care. That’s why Redlands Community Hospital has a Patient Financial Assistance Policy that provides free or discounted services for eligible patients.

What is the Patient Financial Assistance Policy?

Our Patient Financial Assistance Policy helps make emergency medical services available to everyone in our community. Our policy provides assistance to all qualified patients including those with insurance and those who are underinsured at the time of their treatment.

It is the policy of Redlands Community Hospital to provide Financial Assistance for those patients who have documented income at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and have completed and submitted a Financial Assistance Application within 240 days from the date of the first billing statement. Upon approval, eligible patients will receive significant discounts from their balances based upon their income level. FAP eligible patients will not be charged more than the Amounts Generally Billed (AGB) for emergency services or other medically necessary care at Redlands Community Hospital.

Who is Eligible?

You may be eligible for our program if you meet the following guidelines:

  • Your family income must be at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level.
  • Application is submitted within 240 days from your first billing statement.
  • You think you may have trouble paying your bill.

We will work with you to determine if you are eligible. Please remember that access to necessary healthcare is not affected by eligibility for financial assistance.

How to Apply?

Apply by submitting a fully completed application to the Patient Financial Services Department at Redlands Community Hospital. Additionally, if you think you might be eligible for our program, need help completing the application, have questions about the requirements, or would like to request a free copy of our financial assistance application and/or policy, please contact one of our representatives in our Patient Financial Services Department at Redlands Community Hospital.

Providers who have to follow the Financial Assistance Policy:

The hospital, home health and/or hospice does not bill for or include in its charges fees for professional services rendered by independent contractors including those physicians and surgeons providing professional services to the patient, including the radiologists, pathologists, emergency room physicians, anesthesiologists, dentists, podiatrists, and the like. Therefore, the only provider who must follow this FAP is Redlands Community Hospital.
