Medical Surgical Unit (5100)

The Medical Surgical Unit (5100) consists of 34 rooms with OSA monitoring capabilities. The MedSurg unit provides quality, competent, compassionate, and age-appropriate health care to acutely and chronically ill medical and surgical patients. The services provided include cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and gynecological care. The Registered Nurses, in coordination with the interdisciplinary team, deliver care to patients and families while prioritizing the individual's unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs with utmost care and professionalism.

The 5100 MedSurg department is dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients and families through patient-centered care and supports its staff with professionalism and collaboration. The team embraces change and is guided by shared leadership, accountability, and positive attitudes.

Many of our nurses pursue various continuing education and certification opportunities, including Certified Medical Surgical RN (CMSRN) and Orthopedic certification(OCN), nurse mentor, and/or nurse preceptor. Preceptors go on to extensively train new nurses before they start out on their own, providing the new nurse with a solid foundation.

The Professional Practice Committee has established behavioral standards expected of all staff while on duty. This establishes a culture reflective of our team’s core values. Good communication with our patients, their families, visitors, physicians, and other team members is key to providing our patients with Patient First care.
