New Grad Program
This program has been designed to assist the new RN graduate in making
an effective transition from the role of student to that of competent
staff nurse in the clinical setting. It is an 8-24 week (depending on
specialty) intensive, structured program.
- 48+ hours interactive, didactic instruction, including Professional Practice
and the Role of the Professional Nurse; assessment/critical thinking;
tubes/drains/wound care; med administration; adverse drug events, food/drug
interactions; blood products and administration; code blue and mock codes;
conscious sedation; IV and central lines; restraints; patient education;
delegation, decision making, organization, time management.
- 300-1000 hours (depending on specialty) mentored clinical preceptorship
with specially trained unit preceptors in a supportive and team-oriented
environment.
- Variety of specialty tracks available, including Medical/Surgical, Critical
Care, PACU, Maternal Child, and Emergency Department Services.
