Cancer Treatment

Our Oncology Services provide outpatient chemotherapy and radiation, diagnostic tests such as PET scans and MRIs, and lab work or biopsies. Our team stays updated on the latest available therapies including reduced-side-effect chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapies. Whether you are facing a possible diagnosis or coming to terms with a confirmed one, specialists from every corner of medicine will comprise your cancer care team.

Interdisciplinary Team

Our Oncology Services Team is made up of physician specialties (medical/radiation/surgical oncologists, pathologists and radiologists), nursing staff, social workers, dietitians, diabetic educators, rehabilitative services (physical, occupational and speech therapists), home health, hospice and financial counselors who all work together for the common goal of the patient.

These professionals are dedicated to providing you the best possible care and outcome during this very difficult time.

Case Conference/Tumor Board

Redlands multidisciplinary physicians meet routinely at Tumor Board meetings to review imaging and pathology and develop a plan of care for our patients.

Surgery

Our team of board-certified general surgeons and specialty surgeons in urology, gynecologic oncology, head and neck surgery and neurosurgery provide our patients with the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat cancer. Advanced robotically-assisted surgery provides patients with a quicker recovery time with less pain.

Chemotherapy/Infusion Center

Our Oncology Services and Infusion Center provides comprehensive care and maximum comfort throughout all stages of cancer treatment.

Chemotherapy utilizes systemic drugs to shrink or kill cancer cells anywhere in the body by eliminating them or slowing their spread. It can also be used to lessen the pain of incurable cancer. It is delivered via oral medication, injection or intravenously (IV) and can range from one day a week to five days a week for several weeks.

Our infusion center strives to provide the most aggressive yet comfortable cancer treatment in Redlands. It is designed for emotional and physical comfort, with well-padded heated recliners, WiFi, iPads and refreshments to keep the patient and family cozy and entertained.

Our treatment rooms must be kept cool and can often be chilly for our patients. A generous gift from the foundation provided our treatment rooms with a blanket warmer that keeps 10 to 12 blankets warm and ready to go at all times. It uses patented heating zone technology to keep the shelves safely and evenly heated.

Radiation

Radiation therapy treatments use a machine called a linear accelerator (Linac) to deliver high energy X-rays to a specific part of the body. Linac’s are most often used in the treatment of cancer, but are also used for some benign diseases. The goal of radiation therapy treatments is to eradicate the body of cancer or other diseased cells while sparing normal healthy tissue. Radiation therapy is used as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with chemotherapy or surgery. For more information, please call 909-335-5611 or visit

Nurse Navigation

Our nurse navigator coordinates between the provider and many other members of our team to facilitate care while ensuring the patient and family move throughout the complex healthcare system in a timely manner. This includes setting up appointments, test and procedures all to ensure patients receive a care plan that is understandable. Our navigator offers emotional support and additional resources dependent on the patient need and connects patients and family to appropriate follow up and post treatment care.

The goal of our nurse navigator is to reduce cancer morbidity and mortality by eliminating barriers to cancer care access. These barriers may be financial, psychological, logistic, or related to communication or the healthcare delivery system. Ultimately, our nurse navigator guides the patient and family throughout all phases of the cancer journey.

Genetic Counseling and Testing

Most cancer is sporadic and occurs by chance. However, according to the American Cancer Society, about 5 to 10 percent of cancer is hereditary. Characteristics of hereditary cancer may include:

  • A personal or family history of cancer diagnosed at a young age (earlier than 50 years old).
  • Clusters or patterns of cancer in a family, such as breast and ovarian, colon and uterine, or melanoma and pancreatic.
  • Multiple primary cancers in yourself or another family member.

Genetic testing can help you evaluate your risk for developing cancer and make informed decisions about your health. We offer comprehensive genetic evaluation that provides you with personalized information about genetic influences, specific cancer risks and personalized screening and prevention options.

Genetic counseling can include:

  • Collection of detailed medical and family histories
  • Pedigree drawing and analysis
  • Review of medical records
  • Patient education
  • Cancer risk assessment
  • Recommendations regarding management of cancer risk
  • Genetic testing
  • Results disclosure
  • Benefits of genetic counseling

Because we have specialists dedicated to genetic counseling, we can provide you with in-depth resources and information about your risks for developing cancer.

Our genetic counselors can provide you and your loved ones with risk assessments, genetic cancer education, medical management and testing options, as well as reassurance and guidance for you and your family.

Patient Testimonials

Oncology Patient

“As of December, 2023, I have been a patient at the Center for Cancer Care (Redlands) with Dr. Emad Ibrahim. Having been at two other cancer centers previously, it is easy for me to make comparisons. Dr. Ibrahim's treatments have been comfortable, thorough and stress free. His knowledge and personal attention have made it easy for me to ask questions and get answers that I understand so that when I leave, I feel knowledgeable about my present situation.

I cannot say enough about the staff, as well. The women at the desk show warmth and friendliness and the infusion nurses are timely, friendly and "on top" of everything going on around me.

I am grateful for the attention and care I am receiving.”

Oncology Patient

“Dr. Ibrahim and the entire staff at the Center for Cancer Care are amazing, kind, compassionate people. Chemo was rough but everyone helped me get through each cycle. Thank you so much for saving my life!”
