  • General Orthopedics and Total Joint Replacement

    Dr. Burton was a Physical Therapist at Mercy Rehabilitation Center in Auburn, N.Y. prior to attending medical school at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, MO. In medical school, he was a member of Psi Sigma Alpha honor society and then completed internship and Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills Michigan, affiliated with Michigan State University. He served as Chief Orthopaedic and Surgical Resident and in residency, received the Alvin Yarrows Memorial Award for excellence in scientific research for two consecutive years.

    Dr. Burton was a founding member of the Center for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Pennsylvania and has served as Adjunct Professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Duquesne University, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Chatham College and currently is Assistant Clinical Professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Loma Linda University. He has received the Teacher of the Year award from the Orthopaedic Surgery Residents at Loma Linda University in 2007 and 2009.

    Dr. Burton's primary interest is in Total Joint Arthroplasty and he has performed over 4000 of these procedures. He has had additional training in minimal incisional surgical approaches and in hip arthroscopy. He is a consultant for Renovis Surgical Technologies and has assisted in the development of a new total knee replacement system.

    Dr. Burton is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics. He has served on the board of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and as Treasurer, Vice President and then President of the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society. He has served on the board of the California Orthopaedic Association and currently is on the board of the San Bernardino County Medical Society.

  • Orthopedic Surgery

    Dr. Coen received his Medical Degree from the University of Nebraska, Medical Center Omaha, NE and completed his internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center, CA. In 1996, Dr. Coen completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY.

    Dr. Coen specializes in Ankle Arthroscopy, Arthroscopic Surgery, Hip Surgery, Knee Surgery, Ligament Injuries, Rotator Cuffs, Shoulder Surgery, and Sports Medicine. He is a certified member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

    Dr. Coen’s personal interests include teaching. He is an Assistant Professor at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He also enjoys playing soccer and attending church and is the proud recipient of the Top 10 Doctor-City (2014) award.

  • Joint Replacement

    Dr. Peter Elsissy, born to two immigrants, both from Cairo, Egypt, was raised in Connecticut before moving to Southern California at age 10.

    He attended the University of California, Riverside and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2002. He received his MD from David Geffin School of Medicine, UCLA in 2005 and completed his internship in general surgery at Loma Linda University in 2006 followed by residency in Orthopaedic Surgery in June 2010. He then completed his fellowship in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty at the Arizona Institute for Bone and Joint Disorders in August 2011.

    Dr. Elsissy has been recognized for several achievements over the past several years including a first-place research paper at the 5th Annual Loma Linda University Medical Center/Graduate Medical Education Program Directors and Coordinators Conference, as well as, “Teaching Resident of the Year” by the Orthopaedic Trauma Association awarded to the best 3rd year teaching resident.

    He is associated with the publication of multiple orthopaedic research projects and a letter to the editor of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

    In 2010, both Dr. Elsissy, his wife Laura, and Dr. and Mrs. James Matiko, traveled to Haiti on a medical mission trip to help those affected by the earthquake’s destruction. His hobbies include snowboarding, cooking with family and friends, and traveling. Dr. Elsissy has been a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 2006 and is a Fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

    Dr. Elsissy feels blessed to use his gifts and talents from God to help his patients. He and his family attend a non-denominational church and are committed born-again Christians.

  • Orthopedic Surgery

    Dr. Ghazal received his M.D. from Loma Linda University. After a residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center, he went on to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship in Knee & Shoulder Reconstruction at the Los Angeles Orthopedic Institute. He is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Orthopaedics at Loma Linda University and works closely with residents and medical students at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

    Dr. Ghazal was honored to be the recipient of the Orthopaedic Surgeon of the Year 2002 in recognition of Excellence, in the Art, Practice and Teaching of Orthopaedic Surgery award, and to receive the Dean B. Hinshaw award of Excellence in Surgery in 1987. He also served as Program Chairman for the 23rd Annual Alumni Postgraduate Convention at Loma Linda University, presenting a two-day course entitled "The Athlete's Knee." His philosophy is "ALWAYS do your best! Put God first in life and enjoy what you have."

    He and his wife Catherine live in Redlands with their two children. They enjoy tennis, biking, hiking and horses. Dr. Ghazal is also a big sports fan (go 49ers!) and sports car enthusiast, and likes to play soccer and tennis.

  • Sports Medicine 

    Dr. Grames graduated with his M.D. degree from Loma Linda University and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Loma Linda University. He went on to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Orthopaedic and Fracture Clinic in Eugene, Oregon.

    Dr. Grames specializes in sports related injuries and treats patients in the Inland Empire where he grew up. He is also involved with Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Orthopaedic Trauma Center where he enjoys working with medical students and residents. Dr. Grames has been active in numerous research projects. Dr. Grames is a certified member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

    He loves outdoor sports and actively participates in water skiing, snow skiing, flag football, whitewater rafting, scuba diving as well as golf. This active lifestyle enhances his skills in treating sports injuries. Dr. Grames and his wife Jamie have 2 children and enjoy traveling.

    Dr. Hadley graduated with his Medical Degree from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2006. He completed both his internship and residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

    Dr. Hadley specializes in Orthopedic Surgery.

  • Spine and General Orthopedics

    Dr. Hopkins received his Medical Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He completed his spine fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. He is also involved with the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Orthopaedic Trauma Center where he enjoys working with medical students and residents.

    Specializing in orthopedic spine surgery, Dr. Hopkins can diagnose and treat a range of conditions affecting the spine including degenerative diseases, arthritic conditions, fractures, tumors, deformities such as scoliosis, and other conditions.

    When he is not working, he is often found mountain biking, running and enjoying other outdoor activities. However, his favorite activity is traveling and spending time with his family.

    Dr. Hopkins and his wife Kelly have 3 wonderful boys, Bryce, Logan and Cole.

  • Orthopedic Surgery

    Dr. McIvor earned his Medical Degree in 1984 from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his internship at Abington Memorial Hospital in 1985 and his residency at Temple University Hospital in 1990.

    Dr. McIvor specializes in General Orthopedic Surgery including Joint Replacement, Trauma, Sports Medicine as well as hand and foot surgery. He is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and is a member of the California Orthopaedic Association. Dr. McIvor is the proud recipient of the Healthgrades Honor Roll Award.

    His personal interests include mountain biking and golfing.

  • Spine Surgery & General Orthopedics

    Dr. Skubic Specializes in management of neck and spinal disorders. He has been practicing orthopedic surgery in the Inland Empire since 1989. He graduated from UCLA School of Medicine in 1982. He also did his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at UCLA. He did his Spinal Surgery Fellowship at Toronto General Hospital in 1988.

    He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the California Orthopaedic Association, the North American Spine Society and the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons.

    Dr. Skubic states. "My core belief in working with patients is determining the treatment that I would want for a loved one or myself.   • Spine Surgery, Pelvic Trauma

    Dr. Steinmann graduated from the University of Redlands in 1982 then went on to receive his DO degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. After a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Botsford General Hospital, he completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship at the University of Washington, Harborview Medical Center, Seattle.

    Dr. Steinmann currently treats traumatic spinal injuries as well as degenerative problems of the neck and low back. He is the director of Spine Trauma at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center as well as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Western University and Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics-Spine Section, the North American Spine Society and the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons. In addition, Dr. Steinmann currently serves on the Board of the California Orthopedic Association.

    Dr. Steinmann has completed and published important research in spine surgery and has written 3 different book chapters in spine surgery.

    Dr. Steinmann has taken a particular interest in creating meaningful healthcare reform with a goal to significantly improve the patients experience while at the same time reducing the cost of healthcare to our society. He has founded Renovis Surgical Technologies, an outstanding medical device manufacturing company dedicated to bringing innovative products and models to orthopedic and spinal surgery disciplines. He serves as the Medical Director of the Spine and Joint Institute which he initiated in collaboration with Redlands Community Hospital. The Spine and Joint Institute is recognized as providing the regions very best patient satisfaction and has posted incredible improvements in efficiency and community cost savings.

    Dr. Steinmann and Jeannette have 6 children and have lived in the Inland Empire most of their lives. During his free time he enjoys skiing and traveling with his family.

    Dr. Stewart received his Medical Degree in 2002 from St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. He completed his residency in 2007 at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington D.C.

    Dr. Stewart is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and has special expertise in Hip, Knee, and Hand and Wrist Osteoarthritis. He is the proud recipient of the Healthgrades Honor Roll Award.

  • Hand Surgery, Shoulder, Elbow, and Wrist

    Andrew Wong, M.D. is a fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. He joined Arrowhead Orthopaedics in August 2009. Dr. Wong completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at one of the most coveted Hand fellowships in the country - Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. It was at Allegheny where Dr. Wong honed his expertise in surgery from the shoulder to fingertip, using diverse techniques of surgery including arthroscopy, joint replacement, and microsurgery. He completed his residency program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI where he was honored with the distinction of chief resident.

    Dr. Wong is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is currently a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Along with many of his partners at Arrowhead Orthopaedics, Dr. Wong is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Loma Linda University Medical Center. In this involvement at the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, he is able to pursue his passion for teaching, helping to train LLUMC Orthopaedic Residents and medical students from various institutions.

    Dr. Wong was born in Ann Arbor, MI and returned to pursue his Bachelor’s degree, Medical degree, and Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Michigan. It was during his undergraduate years that he met his wife. They have been married since 2003 and enjoy traveling, backpacking, playing and watching sports, but most of all, playing with their children Caleb and Joshua.
