Golf Tournament will take place on Thursday, June 20 at the Redlands Country Club
REDLANDS, CA. – (May 30, 2024)- The excitement is mounting as 144 golfers prepare to tee off at the 42nd Redlands Community Hospital Foundation (RCHF) Golf Classic for the Ken Corwin Cup. This much-anticipated event will take place on June 20, 2024, 9 a.m. registration with 11 a.m. shotgun start at the Redlands Country Club.
The annual tournament, now the hospital’s largest and most visible fundraising event, aims to raise between $210,000 and $240,000 through sponsorships, auctions, raffles, and participant fees. The event’s proceeds will benefit a new Radiation and Oncology Center at the Redlands Community Hospital (RCH) Center for Cancer Care.
To provide patients with access to the latest innovations and technologies in cancer radiation treatments, RCH will build a new Radiation Oncology Center directly across the street from the main hospital, located at 245 Terracina Blvd. The new Radiation Oncology Center will house a new innovative Linear Accelerator machine along with a special space for a new PET/CT scanner. This new space, which is expected to open in early 2026, will allow for expansion of radiation therapy as the demand for cancer treatment grows.
The tournament will be coordinated by up to 60 dedicated volunteers, including members of the RCH Auxiliary, hospital staff, community members, and Redlands Country Club members.
At the tournament’s conclusion, participants will gather in the clubhouse for an awards dinner featuring a live auction. The auction items will include premium Los Angeles Angels tickets behind home plate, donated by Tim Rochford and the Rochford Foundation; a luxury suite for 18 at an Angels game, courtesy of Hangar 24 Craft Brewery; and a Lake Arrowhead cabin getaway donated by RCH Golf Committee member Tom Cutler. The raffles will also offer a variety of golf-related gifts, including clothing and equipment.
This year’s tournament is co-chaired by Wendy and Guenter Posjena, longtime hospital volunteers and donors who have supported many hospital initiatives, including the building of the Redlands Community Hospital Center for Cancer Care.
“Redlands Community Hospital is extremely important to the community,” said Wendy Guenter Posjena. “It provides patients with a very different environment than you might find at other hospitals, particularly larger hospitals. It’s really a family-friendly environment.”
The Golf Classic expects to attract up to 100 sponsors, including Madison Grove Post-Acute, SEI, Lockton Insurance Brokers, and the Redlands Community Hospital medical staff. Hatfield Buick returns as the Hole-in-One sponsor, offering participants a chance to win a new Buick on the par-3 third hole.
“This tournament is crucial for our hospital,” said Bengt Gustavsson, president of the RCH Foundation. “It not only provides a wonderful day of golf and camaraderie, but also raises significant funds for essential hospital programs that save lives. We eagerly anticipate this event each year, and this year is no exception.”
The Ken Corwin Cup honors the legacy of Kenton W. Corwin, the longtime president of the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation and a driving force behind the tournament’s inception. His dedication continues to inspire the success of the Golf Classic.
Player registration for the Golf Classic is $1,500 and event sponsorship opportunities are available from $250 to $12,000. To register to participate or more information on how to support the event through sponsorship, contact the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation at (909) 335-5540.
