Redlands Community Hospital Earns ENERGY STAR® Certification

Redlands Community Hospital Earns ENERGY STAR® Certification

Hospital outperforms similar U.S. buildings in energy efficiency

Redlands, CA – (July 27, 2026) – Redlands Community Hospital (RCH) has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR® certification for superior energy performance, recognizing the hospital’s commitment to having efficient and sustainable building operations. RCH also scored a national high Energy Star score of 81, exceeding the benchmark for certified buildings.

“We’re honored to earn the ENERGY STAR for superior energy performance at RCH and appreciate the efforts of everyone who has been involved in its efficient operation,” said Adam Thunell, chief executive officer of Redlands Community Hospital. “Saving energy is just one of the ways we show our community we care, and that we’re committed to doing our part to protect the environment and public health, both today and for future generations.”

RCH cares for hundreds of community members daily. The certification reflects the hospital’s responsibility for not only providing exceptional care, but also in resource management and operational excellence to keep its patients, visitors, and staff in a comfortably safe environment.

EPA certified buildings and plants are verified to perform in the top 25 percent of buildings nationwide, based on weather-normalized source energy use that considers occupancy, hours of operation, and other key metrics. This EPA certification is the only one in the United States that is based on actual, verified energy performance.

On average, ENERGY STAR certified buildings and plants use 35 percent less energy, cause 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions, and are less expensive to operate than their peers—all without sacrifices in performance or comfort.
