World-Renowned Painter Showcases His Work in the Inland Empire

Redlands Community Hospital Foundation to Host an “Evening with the Artists” Event

REDLANDS, CA-- San Diego-based artist, Paul Strahm, will bring his internationally collected paintings to the “Evening with the Artists” event at Redlands Community Hospital March 30th. His images are thoughtfully painted to capture the landscape, lifestyle of his surroundings, and its people.

Strahm’s passion for painting began when he was young, as did his love for the outdoors. His rural Ohio upbringing allowed him to intimately explore nature on his family’s country farm. After high school, Paul attended Youngstown State University where he studied art and became fascinated with the French Impressionist painter, Paul Cezanne. Cezanne influenced Strahm and he began to emulate Cezanne’s vibrant hues and his love of “plein air” painting. Not long after receiving his fine arts degree in painting, Paul moved west to San Diego, a climate very similar to Cezanne’s favorite haunts in the south of France.

Some of Strahm’s most recent accomplishments include ‘Best of Show’ in the 2011 North Park Plein Air show, The 2011 Juror’s Choice Award in the Borrego Springs Annual Plein Air Invitational, Best of Oil and Acrylic Award in the Carmel Art Festival in 2010. In addition to more than 30 awards and recognitions, Strahm was featured in a television documentary on Channel 4’s San Diego Insider. Strahm’s professional affiliations include the California Art Club, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, Oil Painters of America, the San Diego Art Institute, Plein Air Painters of San Diego, and the Idyllwild Art Alliance.

Strahm joins local artists Patricia Rose Ford, Ginger Pena, Donal Jolley, alongside the works of Jean Cranmer (presented by Kimberley Shirk Assoc.) at the annual ‘Evening of the Artists’ event this spring. Strahm’s artwork will be available for purchase at the Stan and Ellen Weisser Education Pavilion from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 30 and proceeds will benefit the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation art fund. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will also be served at the event during the elegant evening occasion. Entrance fee of $20 is payable in advance or at the door.
