Seung Lee Showcased At Redlands Community
REDLANDS, Calif. – Mixed media artist Seung Lee will be among five
artists featured during the annual “Evening with the Artists”
hosted by the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation on Friday, April 25.
“My work is significantly influenced by the two poles of the Ying
and Yang, the Asian positive and negative,” explains Lee, “and
the interactions between humans and nature.”
The Cathedral City resident follows a series of five principles and a
mixed media approach to construct his multicolor, woodcut creations. He
has been featured in many galleries throughout his career. Lee discovered
his love of art through its development into a language that he uses to
communicate his vision. He says his pieces are currently influenced by
everyday life, journeys, hopes and wishes.
“Each of my pieces features 10 to 20 layers of carving covered by
layers of pre-painted paper and heavy, multicolor woodblock ink. This
gives every image a three-dimensional texture,” explains Lee.
Lee joins local artists Aida Schneider, Angela Koenig, Martha Cowan, and
Ray Fedorchak at the annual “Evening with the Artists” event.
Lee’s artwork will be available for purchase at the Stan and Ellen
Weisser Education Pavilion from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April
25. Proceeds will benefit the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation’s
art fund. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served during the evening’s
elegant event. Tickets are $20.
The Foundation’s art program began in 1978 and today, the hospital
exhibits a collection of more than 750 works of original art and historic
photographs in the Redlands Community Art collection.
