REDLANDS, CA – August 23, 2018 – Through a Redlands Community Hospital
Foundation grant, Redlands Community Hospital has purchased two Trumpf
Medical™ TruSystem® 7000dV surgical tables that work in unison
with its da Vinci robotic surgical system, equipment that performs minimally
invasive surgery.
Designed for everyday surgical needs, the table’s robotic ability
to move in 32 different positions allows the doctor to tilt the operating
table in real time to improve navigation during surgery. The table is
light enough for surgical technicians to move it to and from operating
rooms and strong enough to hold patients weighing up to 1,000 pounds.
Robotics are now used for many medical procedures and benefit patients
by reducing hospital stays, minimizing pain, decreasing risk of surgical
site infections, less scarring, better outcomes, and faster recovery.
“Medicine advances at such a rapid rate,” said Bonita Aceto,
director of surgery at Redlands Community Hospital. “Our commitment
to providing exceptional care means giving our patients access to the
latest technology that improves comfort, care and outcomes.”
The hospital was able to purchase these advanced articulating operating
tables through a grant from the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation.
“The delivery of exceptional healthcare at the hospital is the foundation’s
highest priority, ” said Jan Opdyke, President of Redlands Community
Hospital Foundation. “ We are grateful for philanthropic support
that enabled us to improve the quality of care of our patients by purchasing
these surgery tables.”
Late last year, the hospital began the renovation of its Surgery Services
Department. The renovated 8,700 square foot surgery department will add
four new operating rooms, including a new hybrid intervention suite that
will allow the hospital to provide treatment for a wide range of neurological
and vascular conditions, and perform many of the most complex surgical
procedures. The expansion will increase the hospital’s surgical
capacity to 12 operating rooms. The addition to the Surgery Services Department
is expected to be completed in 2019.
