Redlands, CA – (October 29, 2026) – Redlands Community Hospital (RCH) has earned Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care (ACPC) by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
The Joint Commission Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care, developed in cooperation with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) assesses the organizations alignment with and implementation of evidence-based practices and standards for prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum patient care services.
The certification recognizes Redlands Community Hospital’s care achievements in:
- Integrated, coordinated and patient-centered prenatal through postpartum care, including both complicated and uncomplicated pregnancies.
- Early identification of high-risk pregnancies and births.
- Management of mothers’ and/or newborns’ risks
- Direct care or stabilization and safe transfer of mothers and/or newborns with identified or unanticipated risks or complications.
- Education and information about perinatal services to help mothers make informed decisions about care, treatment or services.
- Ongoing quality improvement processes, in addition to The Joint Commission’s perinatal care measure set.
RCH underwent a rigorous, onsite review on August 11-12,2026. During the visit, the Joint Commission surveyor evaluated compliance with related certification standards including management and facilitation of clinically appropriate level of care, information management, performance improvement and overall perinatal program management, assessing alignment with Joint Commission ACPC standards. Alignment with ACPC standards was exhibited through review of the programs standardized clinical practices, multidisciplinary governance structure, data driven performance improvement, early risk identification systems, standardized response and readiness processes, ongoing staff competency validation, patient and family centered care, and community engagement.
“Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care recognizes healthcare organizations committed to striving for excellence and fostering continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing executive, Joint Commission. “We commend RCH for using Joint Commission’s certification process to reduce variation in clinical processes and to strengthen its clinical program to drive safer, higher quality and more compassionate care for individuals served.”
