Hospital Recognizes the Hard Work and Achievements of Many Dedicated Volunteers

REDLANDS, Calif. (December 12, 2016) -- Redlands Community Hospital honored their volunteers at its annual Auxiliary Holiday Brunch and Installation on Wednesday, December 7, at the Redlands Community Hospital Stan and Ellen Weisser Education Pavilion.

Minnie Robinson, an 18-year Auxiliary Volunteer, was chosen to receive the Mary Kimberly-Shirk Volunteer Award of Excellence, which is presented each year to an outstanding volunteer who demonstrates leadership, enthusiasm, loyalty, energy and compassion for patients and their families. In her nearly two decades of service, Robinson has volunteered more than 10,000 hours and has held leadership roles on the Auxiliary Board as the Service Awards Chair, Hours Awards Chair, as well as the Chair of Volunteer Services. She has supported a number of the hospital’s special events as well as community health fairs. Robinson can be regularly found in the gift shop, creating a warm and welcoming experience for visitors purchasing gifts for patients or taking a break from a stressful moment.

“We celebrate our volunteers for their continued time, energy, skills and talents they generously give, helping us make Redlands Community Hospital better and our community stronger,” said Jim Holmes, president and CEO of Redlands Community Hospital. “It is our volunteers who exemplify the true spirit of giving by bringing their passion and determination each day to make a difference at our hospital.”

The Auxiliary presented the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation with a check for $65,000.; monies having been raised from proceeds from the Auxiliary Gift Shop, book fairs, quilt ticket sales and other fundraising activities. The Auxiliary Quilters unveiled the 2016 patch, which will be mounted on the hospital main lobby wall along with the other quilt patches from previous years. Installation of the 2017 officers also took place to include:

  • David Caminiti, President
  • Diane Brown, Corresponding Secretary
  • Betty DeLeon, Recording Secretary
  • Donna Chaffey, Treasurer
  • Wendy Brady-Posjena, Vice President

“It is a privilege to serve as the Auxiliary President in the coming year,” said David Caminiti. “I look forward to working with our dedicated team to help make our hospital and programs a better experience for our patients and visitors.”
