Hematology/Oncology Services & Infusion Center
Treating cancer with all the care in the world.
Our new Hematology/Oncology Services and Infusion Center provides a spectrum
of outpatient care for those facing a diagnosis of cancer or blood disorders,
or diagnosed patients requiring treatment. We provide services for a variety
of types of cancer, as well as hematology conditions such as clotting
disorders, anemia, platelet conditions or iron metabolism issues.
Hematology/Oncology services include consultations, prevention and screenings,
examinations, diagnostic services, treatment planning, treatment and support
services. Patients also trust our knowledgeable specialists and advanced
testing to obtain second opinions.
Our approach of patient-centered care is individualized for each person
by an experienced team from all levels of hematology and oncology. The
setting is also designed around the comfort and convenience of patients,
especially given that repeat visits are often necessary to treat these
illnesses. Our caring, supportive team truly gets to know patients and
family members.
Meeting the Need for Outpatient Care
The trend in cancer treatment is outpatient care due to advancements in
medications and technology. Our Hematology/Oncology Services were created
to respond to this community need by offering outpatient chemotherapy,
targeted therapies and immunotherapy as well as supportive care at a convenient
location. For patients who require outpatient radiation treatment or diagnostic
radiology testing, such as MRI, CT or PET scans, there is easy access
to those services across the street at the hospital. Laboratory work,
bone marrow biopsies and interventional radiology are also available.
Innovative Treatments and Clinical Trials
Medical breakthroughs and advancements in the fields of Hematology/Oncology
are occurring at a rapid pace due to pioneering discoveries in research,
genetics, pharmaceuticals and more. The team at our Hematology/Oncology
Services and Infusion Center stay updated on new and innovative treatments
such as chemotherapies with reduced side effects, treatment that spares
healthy tissues, targeted therapies and sophisticated immunotherapies.
Patients may also have access to various clinical trials under the direction
of Emad Ibrahim, M.D., medical director of the Hematology/Oncology Services
and Infusion Center. Those who meet the criteria of a particular study
may qualify for medications and other treatments that are still in development.
Infusion Center
The Infusion Center, part of the Hematology and Oncology Services, is for
patients who require chemotherapy or other forms of intravenous (IV) therapy.
We understand that IV treatment may require long periods of sitting while
medication is administered. That is why the Infusion Center is designed
for physical and emotional comfort, with entertaining ways to pass the
time. Patients can relax in well-padded recliners, each equipped with
a heating element. Patients and caregivers may use complimentary iPads
with Wi-Fi to connect to the Internet, as well as enjoy books, magazines
and a variety of media during their visits. Snacks are available all day,
and an ice machine creates snow cones to help patients hydrate if experiencing
mouth soreness or dryness, or to ward off nausea.
Convenient Location
The Hematology/Oncology Services and Infusion Center is part of the Center
for Surgical and Specialty Care at Redlands Community Hospital. It is
located at 255 Terracina Blvd in Suite 104B.
