Palliative Care

If you have a chronic illness, living with the reality, side effects and painful symptoms takes a physical and mental toll. RCH’s palliative care service, the Advanced Illness Management (AIM) service, is part of the hospital’s home health services. It’s focused on improving patient quality of life by relieving pain and increasing comfort while remaining in the home.

Palliative care is not hospice care; our goal is to help the patient make a full recovery. However, should patients or their families decide to discontinue life-extending treatment, our team will ensure peaceful final treatment with comfort, care and support.

Treatment Customized to Patient Needs

Getting to know patients is the best way to provide them comfort in mind and body. We take the time to speak with you and hear what you want from your treatment. We educate you about your condition so you can make informed decisions. AIM Services include:

  • Pain management
  • Anxiety treatment
  • Breathing exercises and assistance
  • Illness/treatment options education
  • Spiritual care
  • Medical social worker assistance
  • Personal care and support

AIM staff coordinates your care with your primary care physician to give you the highest recovery support and comfort possible. Patients’ conditions are carefully tracked to avoid unnecessary visits to the ER or hospital. AIM offers patients comprehensive treatment from medical professionals without leaving the comfort of home.
